Dietmar Wiesner lebt in Frankfurt am Main. Als Gründungsmitglied, Flötist und langjähriges Vorstandsmitglied des Ensemble Modern ist er sowohl in organisatorische Fragen als auch in künstlerische Entscheidungen maßgeblich eingebunden und arbeitet mit den wichtigsten Vertreter*innen der zeitgenössischen Musik. Er konzertiert regelmäßig in Europa und der Welt. Als Solist spielte er u.a. mit dem Scotish BBC Orchester und dem SWR Rundfunksinfonieorchester. Er unterrichtet an der Internationalen Ensemble Modern Akademie (IEMA) als auch im Master Studiengang für zeitgenössische Musik an der Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Tanz (HfMDK) Frankfurt.

Er spielte die CD`s mit seiner seiner Version der Komposition „Solo“ für die Stockhausen Edition und Morton Feldman`s Komposition „Crippled Symmetrie“ mit Robyn Schulkowsky und Markus Hinterhäuser für col legno ein.
1994 gründete er zusammen mit Cathy Milliken und Herman Kretzschmar HCD - PRODUCTIONS
Gemeinsam gestalteten sie die „Theaterhauskonzerte“ in Frankfurt, produzierten Klanginstallationen und produzierten die CD`s „Migration“ mit Musik von Paul Bowles und „Surface Tension“ mit Musik von Howard Skempton.
Als Komponist schreibt er für Kammermusik - und Ensemblebesetzungen, als auch Musik für Schauspielproduktionen für die Comédie Francaise, dem Deutsche Schauspielhaus Hamburg, dem Schauspiel Frankfurt und dem Schauspiel Stuttgart.
Als Komponist und Regisseur entwickelte er Hörspiele für den Hessischen Rundfunk (HR) und dem Südwestrundfunk (SWR)
Als musikalischer Leiter und Regisseur von Partizipationsprojekten entwickelte er Volksopern für die Münchener Biennale und das Land Tirol in Österreich, war musikalischer Projektleiter des education Programms zukunft@bphil der Berliner Philharmoniker, ist regelmässig Gastdozent für Improvisation am Institut zur Früh-Förderung musikalisch Hochbegabter (IFF) an der Musikhochschule Hannover und ist Mitglied im musikalischen Führungsteam des langjährigen Improvisations und Kompositionsworkshop „lautstark“ veranstaltet vom Festival Klangspuren Schwaz in Österreich /Tirol.
Dietmar Wiesner lives and works in Frankfurt, Germany. As a founding member and flutist of the Ensemble Modern, he has been involved in all the Ensemble’s artistic and organisational processes, and has worked with the most important contemporary composers of this age. He plays regularly in Europe and abroad with the Ensemble as well as appearing as a soloist with orchestras such as the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and Freiburg. He is teacher of the International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA) and the master of contemporary music at the Hochschule for Music, Theatre and Dance HfMDK Frankfurt.

His CDs include his interpretation of ›Solo‹ by Karlheinz Stockhausen in the Stockhausen Edition and ›Crippled Symmetry‹ by Morton Feldman (with Robyn Schulkowsky and Markus Hinterhäuser).
In 1994 he founded the composers group HCD Productions with Hermann Kretzschmar und Cathy Milliken. Together they have produced the theatrehouse concerts in Frankfurt, sound installations for museums as well as the CD`s „Migration“ with music of Paul Bowles and „Surface Tension“ with music of Howard Skempton.
As a composer, he has written chamber and ensemble music as well as music for theatre productions such as for the Comédie Fancaise, Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Schauspiel Stuttgart and Schauspiel Frankfurt.
As a composer and director, he created radio plays for the Hessen Radio (HR) and Southwest Radio (SWR).
As leader and producer of participation projects he produced operas for the Münchener Biennale and the country of Tirol in Austria, was invited from the Berlin Phils` education program zukunft@bphil, is invited to teach improvisation at the institute for support of young musical talents IFF of the Musikhochschule Hannover and is member of the musical leading board of „lautstark“ the improvisation and composition workshop of the Festival Klangspuren Schwaz in Tirol Austria.
